The P38A (or ‘LP’ as it was referred to internally at Land Rover) was the second generation of the legendary Range Rover line, and represented a significant leap forward over its “Classic” predecessor in terms of styling, refinement, cabin ergonomics, off-road capability, safety and technology. It was code-named after the building in which its engineering development took place at Land Rover headquarters in Solihull, England – Block P38A.
This unique example of the P38A line was built in February 1997 before being transferred to the Special Vehicles division at the Solihull plant for finishing to Autobiography specification. The Autobiography was the top-of-the-line then as it remains now, and was so named for the ability of the new owner to “write your own story” with a number of special paint and interior finishes reserved to facilitate a level of personalisation not available in lesser variants.
