It was designed to build on the huge success of its W/V116 predecessor, and it remains the most popular of all the generations to carry the venerated S-Class designation. The coupé version of the 126 series (C126) was launched shortly after the sedans and like them was designed in-house by legendary stylist Bruno Sacco. It was intended to be a grand tourer in the time-honoured tradition, and provided enviable space, comfort, safety and exclusivity for its time.
