The W112-chassis line was launched by Mercedes-Benz in 1961 initially as the 300SE sedan, offering more power from its M189 3.0L straight-six than its lesser 2.2L W111 stablemate with which it shared the “Fintail” (or Heckflosse) bodywork. The two-door coupé and convertible W112 300SE both appeared a year later in 1962 and shared their bodywork with the 220SE W111 coupé and convertible, the clean and elegant lines of which had been designed by Frenchman Paul Bracq. In both cases – sedan and coupé/cabriolet – the 300SE was designed to be a serious step-up from the W111 in power, luxury, performance, exclusivity, and price. In many ways it was the Maybach of its day, offering an upmarket version of an existing line with a number of important distinguishing and luxurious features. These items included exclusive use of the 170 horsepower 3.0L engine, standard automatic transmission, power steering and self-levelling suspension; along with liberal use of leather, walnut timber trim and exterior chrome compared with the W111 equivalents. The W112 series ran through until 1968, and in total just 9,875 units were delivered to customers globally across sedan and coupé/cabriolet versions…a tiny number by any standard, making the 300SE a very exclusive model line indeed. Just 2,419 of these were coupés, and we are very proud to be able to offer this captivatingly beautiful example from 1965.
Finished in White Grey (158) with a Natural Beige leather (219) interior, this particular coupé was built in right-hand drive form (one of fewer than 300 reportedly ever built) to special order by a gentleman in Adelaide in April 1965 at the Sindelfingen works. It was delivered to him by B.E.A. Motors Mercedes-Benz and remarkably has remained in his family until recently – and even still bears its original South Australian number plate 26-006 (not transferable). It comes complete with all its original books, manuals and paperwork including the warranty card for the factory-fitted Becker Grand Prix push-button radio. It has covered 182,147 miles and in recent years has benefited from new paint and trim to match the originals. Quite simply this is a breathtaking car, with the quality, originality and attention-to-detail of every aspect being second-to-none. The interior features the optional and ultra-rare factory “Safari” seat option, which is effectively four individual bucket seats. These special seats are also different in their design from the typical types seen in most W111 coupés, with a more lightweight, streamlined backrest design echoing something you might expect to see in an SL roadster. The dash is finished in lustrous walnut, which includes the instrument binnacle and all the trim around the base of the windscreen and the door pillars. Leather is literally used everywhere, including for the door trims and even the rear parcel shelf. We would encourage any serious Mercedes-Benz collector to make an appointment with us to view this unique, one-owner and very rare W112 as soon as possible, as recent sales both here and overseas would indicate that this car is already a rapidly-appreciating and highly-desirable classic. It is very rare that we see a car of this age with the quality of provenance found with this one, and we look forward to showing it to you. Please note: the South Australian number plates shown in our images are not transferable.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the W123 series “Compact” in late 1975 and the first examples reached Australian shores in late ’76 for the ’77 model year. The series ran right through until 1986, and it quickly established itself as the standard-setter for mid-size luxury sedans globally. It replaced the previous W114 series and in total some 2.7 million units were produced, making it the most popular Mercedes-Benz range ever made and it is today a model increasingly sought-after by collectors. Designed by legendary in-house stylist Bruno Sacco, the W123 picked up design cues from its larger W116 S-Class sibling and presented a very modern face in the mid-1970s. In particular the interior design was a revelation, and still looks quite contemporary today. Interestingly, Mercedes-Benz has recently returned to the “eyeball” air vent design for most of its current models - a feature that was a hallmark of the 123 dash. The 300D was one of the most popular variants of the W123-series sold in this country, and this particular 1977 example of the legendary 5-cylinder diesel is arguably the very best one available today.
Finished in stunning Ikon Gold with a Parchment interior, this unique car has covered just 143,612km from new and turns heads everywhere it goes. Delivered new in 1978 by Marshalls Mercedes-Benz Sydney in September 1978, the car comes complete with all its factory literature and service log book that's been filled out and is complete from 1978 until now. It presents in immaculate condition, and all its original features remain intact including the factory-fitted Becker mexico radio/cassette and 14-inch steel wheels with unmarked colour-keyed hubcaps and even has the original size Michelin 175 HR 14 tyres. The legendary inline 3.0L diesel 5 performs strongly, and the automatic transmission provides crisp and smooth gear changes. The engine bay is concourse-clean, and the vehicle has been doted on so lovingly that it needs absolutely no money spent on any mechanical aspect. The dashboards on all W123 cars were susceptible to Australia's strong UV, and it is practically impossible to find a car without cracks however the original dashboard on this example has no cracks and is also in immaculate condition. The interior is in the same extraordinary condition as the exterior. This 300D draws nostalgic smiles wherever it goes, and represents a wonderful opportunity for the enthusiast/investor. Trends here and overseas strongly suggest this model is headed for modern-classic status in the coming years, and we believe this original example with extraordinarily low mileage will not disappoint the fussiest buyer.

This April 1989-Complied Mercedes-Benz 300SE W126 series S-Class is finished in Almandine Red (512H) paintwork with a Tobacco leather interior, and has all the original books and manuals from new. It was delivered by McCallum Mercedes-Benz of Strathfield in April 1989 to its first owner in Sydney, and has covered just 82,558km to date. In 1998 it only had 30,000kms, it then went into storage for many years. Everything functions as it should, from the ice-cold air-conditioning to the hydraulic self-levelling rear suspension, electric sunroof, central locking, power windows, cruise control and all the other electrics. Even the factory first-aid kit remains in the parcel shelf where it belongs. The ‘update’ versions of the W126 were released in 1989 and are widely regarded as the most desirable examples of the line, and feature an improved seat design trimmed in soft leather, electric front seats, driver airbag and a leather steering wheel. These cars are getting very hard to find with under 300,000km, and even more so as Australian-deliveries with under 100,000kms. This timeless and beautiful W126 in Almandine Red is a pleasure to drive, and thrills the enthusiast immediately with its originality and the response from its smooth straight-six 3.0L motor. Particularly given the low mileage, excellent provenance and its head-turning good looks, this update W126 is destined to become a highly collectible classic.
