This imposing Range Rover Vogue was delivered new by Alto Land Rover in December 2005 to a buyer in Dural, NSW, and is finished in Stornaway Grey with a dark charcoal grey interior. It is set apart from most other Range Rovers currently being offered not simply by virtue of its condition and history, but also because it is powered by the 225kW Jaguar 4.4L V8 engine. This motor was effectively an interim fitment, but despite this, it has become recognized by Range Rover enthusiasts and technicians alike as superior to both the BMW 4.4L V8 fitted to earlier L322 models and the V8 diesel motors offered afterwards.
Driving through a 6-speed ZF automatic transmission (compared with the 5-speed fitted with the earlier BMW motors), this naturally-aspirated 4.4L delivers excellent performance, remarkable fuel efficiency, and superior reliability compared with the other motors – especially when compared with the earlier BMW unit. Owners of these vehicles fitted with the Jaguar 4.4 know what they have and hold onto them tightly. They are capable of extraordinary mileages, and we have seen examples with more than 360,000km of trouble-free motoring on the odometer.
