The W202 series was launched in 1993, and was the first generation of Mercedes-Benz's compact class to bear the C-Class name. It effectively replaced the long-running W201 series, which had very successfully paved the way for the brand to offer vehicles smaller than its traditional mid- and larger-sized saloons such as the W123 and W126. This late 1999-built and 2000 Australian-complied W202 series sedan is a C180 Classic, finished in solid Black with a black leather interior. It has covered 158,776km and has been extremely well cared-for throughout its life, and we seldom see examples of this age so well preserved and original in their presentation. Delivered new by Mercedes-Benz of Melbourne, it comes with two remote keys, all the original owner’s literature, manuals, service log book and the owner's folder. There is also a collection of Mercedes-Benz dealer service invoices, confirming this car was doted on by its original owner. Unusually for a Classic, this C180 includes a glass electric sunroof, perforated leather trim (MB-Tex was standard), a central front armrest/console, poplar timber trim, power windows in the rear and 15-inch Elegance-spec factory alloy wheels. These unusual extra features come on top of the car's standard cruise control with speed limiter, remote central locking, four airbags, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), ABS brakes and ASR, the original factory sound system with CD stacker, and electric mirrors . The 90kW twin camshaft 1.8L 4-cylinder engine drives through a 5-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels, delivering excellent performance along with outstanding fuel efficiency.
