The W202 series was launched in 1993 and marked the first generation of Mercedes-Benz's compact class to bear the C-Class designation. It succeeded the well-regarded W201 series, which had successfully introduced smaller models to the brand’s line-up, complementing the larger W123 and W126 saloons.
